Gravit is an innovation accelerator, forging solid links between research and the market. Its work starts with laboratory research teams, detecting projects with a high innovation potential of interest to a broad range of industries (environment, healthcare, energy, etc.). Its mission continues with the technical and economic maturing of research to turn it into transfer-ready projects tailored to market demands. The end result is industrial-grade demonstrators with new ventures geared up to capitalize on this achievement.
Launched in 2006, Gravit-Innovation is backed by CEA, the Grenoble teaching hospital (CHU), CNRS, ESRF, Grenoble INP, ILL, INRIA, Université Joseph Fourier, Université de Savoie and Université Pierre Mendes France.
Grenoble Alpes Incubation (Grain) is the business incubator for innovative start-ups linked to public research in the eastern part of the Rhône-Alpes region. Its mission is to capitalize on the results of public research by university laboratories and research centres in France’s Alpine Arc.
Over the past 10 years Grain has actively supported almost 200 entrepreneurs (of which 30 are currently in the incubator). Some 130 companies have been started, giving rise to more than 850 direct jobs and a further 2,000 indirectly.
More than €100 million has so far been raised for Grain-sponsored start-ups.
Grain operates with a team of eight people, given over entirely to its various projects from initial detection to the creation of new ventures.
