GIANT, a campus of innovation on a global scale

Leveraging their extraordinary asset – the scientific “peninsula” -, Grenoble’s scientific and higher-educational institutions – the CEA, CNRS, EMBL, ESRF, GEM, Grenoble INP, ILL, UJF – have created the GIANT* project.

The objective is to respond to the three major societal stakes: Information, Healthcare and Energy. To accomplish this, GIANT focuses on three centers of excellence: MINATEC (Information), GreEn (Energy), and NanoBio (Healthcare), thereby favoring synergies between researchers, technology platforms, and higher education and industry, and allowing for the streamlining of innovation processes.
The centers of excellence benefit from the expertise of multi-skill poles consisting of fundamental research, characterization, and technology management.
Finally, the elaboration of an original urban model enhances the project in such a way that the site is now internationally recognized  for its scientific excellence as well as its quality of life.

ARDI – Regional Development and Innovation Agency

ARDI Rhone-Alps contributes to the sustainable economic development of regional companies through innovation. This agency, created by the Rhone-Alps Regional Council and the State, is made up of seven departments: Design, Materials and Procedures, Digital, Performance, Healthcare, Network Synergy, and Electronic Systems.

ARDI gives priority to regional companies (start-ups, SMEs, large organizations) that are already working on or wish to start working on economic development through innovation. ARDI’s 30 consultants assist these organizations in developing short, mid and long term innovation projects.

ARDI’s activities are oriented around three key skill sets: economic intelligence, project engineering and strategic partnering and networking to offer services that are structured around information, orientation and accompaniment.

Looking for a way to access the Swiss market in the area of clean technologies? It’s now possible through CleanTechAlps, the new cluster and your gateway into western Switzerland for all clean technologies. This platform is active in seven specific sectors: solar, small hydraulics, recycling, water, smart grid, industrial ecology and building energy. Its primary objective is to unite and create value for all the institutes, industries and services that contribute to the protection and conservation of natural resources. If you are looking for an academic or commercial partner in Switzerland, contact us or come visit us a tour booth!

bioPmed (www.biopmed.eu) is the new Italian innovation cluster on bio and medical technologies. Created thanks to Regione Piemonte, it gathers formally more of 60 private and public organisations. It is managed by Science Park Bioindustry Park Silvano Fumero (www.bioindustrypark.eu). Goal of bioPmed is to boost the development of life science at local level.

The cluster is focusing on 2 main trajectories:
  1. New technologies for healt-care (cell & molecular therapies, molecular diagnostics and imaging)
  2. Innovative technologies for med-tech
bioPmed strategy for growth is based on partnerships and in such direction e.g. a strategic cooperative agreement has been signed with LyonBiopole.

PITER PROJECT

Within the Region of Knowledge FP7 program, PITER is a two years collaborative project dedicated to strengthen the emerging renewable energy market between Rhône Alps and Piedmont regions. The Pôle de Compétitivité TENERRDIS, based in Grenoble, is involved in this program with four others partners: the cluster Environment Park, the two regions, and Alma Consulting. PITER aims to develop a proposal for a «Joint Action Plan» which will define a systemic approach covering environmental, economic, technological factors. It will focus efforts on R&D and industrial development to reduce CO2 emissions, and improve our quality of life by creating new jobs and reducing health problems.

PITER is thus participating in the economic development of the Rhône Alpes and Piedmont and endeavours to promote and strengthen cooperation between the two regions.
